Cimahi Deputy Mayor Adhitia Yudisthira has predicted that approximately 70 per cent of the city’s approximately 570,000 residents will travel home to their respective hometowns for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri. He attributed this to the fact that many Cimahi residents are migrants from outside the region.

“The proportion of travellers returning home is roughly 70 per cent of residents. In keeping with Cimahi’s history, many urban dwellers have settled in Cimahi. So when the Eid holiday arrives, Cimahi City will certainly become quiet,” Adhitia said following preparations for Eid 2026 on Monday (16/2026).

The Cimahi municipal government will provide free transport for 720 travellers using 15 buses this year, with destinations including Semarang via Cirebon, and Solo via Yogyakarta. Adhitia urged travellers not to bring new family members, particularly those without stable employment.

Overall, the Cimahi municipal government is ready to manage the Eid travel surge in 2026. Cimahi City is a region frequently traversed by travellers, particularly those using motorcycles via General Amir Machmud National Road from various districts.

The flow also includes travellers from Jakarta–Bogor–Sukabumi–Cianjur–Cipatat–Padalarang via Cipatat-Padalarang-Cimahi road towards the East Priangan region and surrounding areas, as well as from Karawang–Purwakarta–Cikalongwetan–Padalarang–Cimahi towards the East Priangan region.

“Cimahi City has a very strategic geographical position as a transit city in the Greater Bandung region. Vehicle flows from and to various areas in West Java will pass through road corridors in Cimahi City,” Adhitia said.

He noted that readiness of personnel and traffic surveillance systems is essential. The operational briefing also served as an opportunity to ensure the readiness of personnel, facilities, and operational procedures to be used in the field.

“Clarity in task distribution must be ensured. Every member of personnel must understand their respective role, whether in traffic management, terminal and bus stop supervision, or vehicle testing,” he said.

Adhitia also reminded officials to carefully map congestion hotspots, particularly at major intersections, congested road sections, and city boundary areas. Field officers are expected to be able to conduct early anticipation and implement traffic engineering swiftly and accurately.

Cimahi City Transport Office (Dishub), he said, has prepared two security checkpoint posts to support traffic flow management during the Eid travel and holiday period. The main coordination post will be placed at Cimahi Square with another post in the Kebon Kopi area, Cibeureum Village.

Support vehicles including two double-cabin units, one single-cabin unit, one breakdown vehicle, one breakdown vehicle for street lighting operations, and two cranes have also been prepared to support smooth Eid travel this year.

“I emphasise to Cimahi City Transport Office to focus not only on personnel assigned to duty at coordination posts, but we must also anticipate new congestion points in Cimahi City caused by the Eid holiday,” Adhitia said.
