7,728 Combined Security Personnel Secure Staple Goods Distribution and Affordable Market at Monas
A total of 7,728 combined personnel have been deployed to secure the distribution of staple goods and an affordable market in the National Monument (Monas) area, Central Jakarta, today. The personnel on standby consist of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and local government. Deputy Chief of Metro Jaya Police Brigadier General Dekananto Eko Purwono directly led the security briefing. He checked the personnel’s readiness while assigning security duties at several strategic points. Dekananto emphasised that this activity is not merely a ceremonial briefing but a final readiness check to face potential field vulnerabilities. Moreover, the event will be attended by the President of the Republic of Indonesia and could draw thousands of people. “This briefing is not a formality; it is the final check of personnel and equipment readiness. I hope all units understand their respective duties,” Dekananto stated in his directions on Saturday (28/3/2026). On that occasion, he reminded of the potential mass surge, especially from residents without coupons. It is known that 100,000 coupons have been distributed. The organising committee has prepared around 4,000 tickets for the public who can enter the main area, with the distribution planned to start from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM Western Indonesia Time. “Officers at the entrance must be firm. Only those with tickets and bracelets are allowed to enter; others are not permitted to avoid chaos,” he said. In addition to access regulation, personnel are also asked to anticipate potential public security disturbances such as pickpocketing, bag snatching, and motor vehicle theft. “Security must be carried out humanely but remain firm. No incidents, no matter how small, should occur,” he stressed. Thousands of personnel are deployed at various points, from the Monas bowl area, entrance gates, to main roads around such as Jalan Merdeka Utara, Selatan, Barat, and Timur.
