The Jakarta Provincial Education Department (Disdik DKI Jakarta) reported that 60 students had their Kartu Jakarta Pintar (KJP) status revoked due to involvement in riots between 2025 and 2026.

Head of Disdik DKI Jakarta, Nahdiana, stated that 20 students had their KJP status revoked in 2025 due to riot involvement, with the figure rising to 40 in 2026.

Nahdiana emphasised that student riots cannot be addressed solely through school environments, noting that children’s education requires involvement from families, communities, and the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

She confirmed all 40 students involved in 2026 riots had their KJP status revoked, but stressed this was not merely punitive, but part of educational guidance.

The Jakarta Provincial Government ensures these students do not drop out despite KJP support being withdrawn, with Disdik DKI continuing to oversee their education through non-formal pathways.

“Education’s core value is to nurture improvement, so we discuss whether students transition to non-formal schooling, but they must not leave education entirely,” she said.

Some students opt for non-formal education routes such as Community Learning Centres (PKBM) or courses.

“We engage students outside formal schools, seeking to rebuild trust. Many prefer non-formal options such as courses, yet still obtain qualifications through PKBM,” Nahdiana added.
