6.8 Million Vehicles Predicted to Leave Jakarta via Three Main Toll Roads
Jakarta — Approximately 6.8 million vehicles are estimated to leave Jakarta via three major toll roads during the 2026 Eid homecoming and return period, spanning from H-10 to H+10 Eid.
The three toll roads projected to serve as primary traffic corridors are the Tangerang–Merak, Cikopo–Palimanan, and Jombang–Mojokerto toll roads.
Novianto Dwi Wibowo, Operations Director of Astra Infra, stated that the total volume of vehicles expected to pass through these three toll roads is estimated at 6.8 million vehicles.
“For our forecast of what will happen during H-10 through H+10 Eid, the total for our three main routes—Tangerang–Merak, Cikopo–Palimanan, and Jombang–Mojokerto—will see approximately 6.8 million vehicles passing through,” Novianto said during a media briefing on the 2026 Eid holiday in Jakarta on Monday (9 March 2026).
In detail, the volume of vehicles on the Tangerang–Merak toll road is predicted to reach approximately 3.4 million vehicles, representing an increase of approximately 2.5 per cent compared to the previous year.
“For Tangerang–Merak, our estimate is that 3.4 million vehicles will pass through, representing an increase of approximately 2.5 per cent compared to 2025,” Novianto said.
Meanwhile, vehicles on the Cikopo–Palimanan toll road are estimated to reach approximately 2.3 million vehicles, representing an increase of approximately 1.8 per cent compared to the 2025 Eid period.
“Cikopo–Palimanan will see approximately 2.3 million vehicles, representing an increase of approximately 1.8 per cent compared to 2025,” he stated.
In East Java, the Jombang–Mojokerto toll road is predicted to accommodate approximately 1.1 million vehicles, representing an increase of approximately 1.4 per cent compared to the previous year.
“In East Java, Jombang–Mojokerto will have approximately 1.1 million vehicles, representing an increase of approximately 1.4 per cent compared to 2025,” Novianto said.
He explained that the vehicle movement patterns on each toll road section are estimated to differ due to geographic conditions and travel characteristics that vary by location.
To handle the surge in vehicles, Astra Infra has prepared various measures to ensure smooth travel for homebound commuters.
“To handle the 6.8 million vehicles estimated to travel during H-10 through H+10, we are naturally preparing everything possible to ensure that road users will experience smooth, safe, and comfortable homecoming and return journeys,” he added.
These preparations include the readiness of toll road facilities and infrastructure, as well as collaboration with various stakeholders.
Additionally, the operator ensures that rest area facilities function optimally, including fuel filling stations, electric vehicle charging stations, prayer rooms, toilets, and dining areas for homebound travellers.
