Total there were 171 people choosing a one-way departure service, while 338 others registered for a round-trip service (PP), said Rudi Saptari Sulesuryana, Head of the Jakarta North Transportation Sub-agency, in Jakarta on Friday. He said participants undergoing verification were registrants from clusters one to three. He added that from the three registration clusters, 20 destination cities had been designated. Destinations most in demand Solo became the most popular destination with a total of 50 passengers, followed by Wonogiri with 49 passengers, Palembang 44 passengers, and Semarang 43 passengers. In addition, other cities such as Yogyakarta, Pekalongan, and Purwokerto also recorded high seat occupancy. In addition to transporting passengers, officials also facilitated the dispatch of five motorcycles belonging to mudik travellers to support mobility in their hometowns. He also praised the orderliness of the participants during the registration and verification process. He urged the public to continue monitoring official information related to the programme. “It is hoped that the departures of motorcycles and passengers will be scheduled on 16 and 17 March 2026. May the entire series of activities run smoothly and the participants maintain their health ahead of departure,” he said. Earlier, Sulistiyono Widodo, Head of the Road Transport Section of the Jakarta North Transportation Sub-agency, added that registration for the free mudik programme had been open from 22 February to 2 March 2026 online via the official website. The verification process takes place from 25 February to 5 March 2026. “This annual programme is a tangible form of government presence in providing services to the public, particularly in welcoming Eid al-Fitr,” he said. He stressed that this programme is also a government measure to ease the community’s economic burden while reducing private vehicle use, especially motorcycles, which have a higher risk of accidents on the roads. “Hopefully through this programme public transport services can continue to improve and be a more humane solution for Jakarta residents,” he added. Meanwhile, a resident of Semper Timur, Tanto (51), said he is very helped by the Free Mudik programme from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. This year he plans to mudik to Sidoarjo, East Java. He said the registration process was quite easy because it was conducted online by attaching the KTP and Kartu Keluarga. “Sangat membantu. This is my second year participating in the Free Mudik programme from the DKI Provincial Government. Hopefully the quota will increase each year so more residents can benefit,” he said.
