500 low cost houses dedicated

JAKARTA (JP): State Minister for Public Housing Siswono
Judohusodo will dedicate 500 low cost houses today at the Bumi
Serpong Damai complex in Tangerang.

"The houses are part of the scheduled 1,409 low cost houses
now under construction," Bumi Serpong Damai's director, Budiarsa
Sastrawinata, said. The dedication by the minister, he added, "is
part of a series of events which mark the sixth anniversary of
Bumi Serpong Damai."

He said Bumi Serpong Damai is developing 6,000 hectares of
land in Tangerang, of which 52.7 percent is designed for housing
complexes of various types. The rest of the land is for
facilities, including sports venues, recreation parks and roads.

To date, Bumi Serpong Damai has built 4,622 low cost houses,
2,692 medium cost houses and 727 luxury houses.

The development of Bumi Serpong Damai has created hundreds of
job opportunities since its inauguration in the late 1980s,
Budiarsa said. (rsl)
