Jakarta (ANTARA) - Samsung is believed to be seriously relying on its own chips in 2027, with reports circulating that 50 percent of the Galaxy S27 series will be powered by the Exynos 2700 chip. This new report further strengthens information that Samsung plans to reduce its dependence on Qualcomm’s chips. As reported by Gizmochina on Tuesday, Samsung’s move to lessen reliance on Qualcomm makes sense because Snapdragon chips are becoming increasingly expensive at present. If Samsung continues down this path, the situation will not become any easier. Moreover, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, which may serve as the core for the Galaxy S27 Ultra, is reported to use TSMC’s more costly 2nm process. Therefore, the option of relying on its own chips to keep production costs under control is logical. Nevertheless, real-world performance tests provide a mixed picture of high-end Exynos chips. If Samsung truly implements a 50 percent split between Snapdragon and Exynos in the Galaxy S27 series, it would represent a significant increase and indicate that the company is more confident this time. Of course, this is not without risks. Exynos does not always have the best reputation, especially when compared to Snapdragon in real-world usage. Overall, this feels like a long-term correction. Over-reliance on Qualcomm has proven expensive, and now Samsung is attempting to rebalance the situation.
