5 Horrifying Facts about Little Aresha Daycare in Jogja: Children Tied Up, Parents Required to Do This Before Picking Up
Police raided the Little Aresha Daycare in Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta City, on the afternoon of Friday, 24 April 2026.
The Head of Criminal Investigation at Yogyakarta Police Resort, Kompol Riski Adrian, stated that the raid was conducted in connection with allegations of abuse against the children entrusted to the facility.
“It is strongly suspected of committing the criminal act of treating children in a discriminatory manner or placing, allowing, involving, or ordering the involvement of children in situations of improper treatment, neglect, or violence against children,” Adrian said when contacted by reporters on Saturday, 25 April 2026.
The case of child abuse at Little Aresha Daycare was first reported by a former employee who had previously worked as a caregiver there.
“Initially, the employee saw that the treatment of the babies or children entrusted there was inhumane. She felt it went against her conscience because she saw abuse and neglect, so she chose to resign and report it,” said the Yogyakarta Police Resort Chief, Kombes Pol Eva Guna Pandia, on Saturday.
- 53 out of 103 children became victims
Kombes Eva revealed that Little Aresha Daycare cared for 103 children, with 53 of them verified to have experienced physical and verbal violence.
According to the reporter, who had worked there for more than a year, these acts of violence had been ongoing for a long time.
- The daycare lacks an operating permit
The Head of the Department of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control (DP3AP2) of Yogyakarta City, Retnaningtyas, stated that the Little Aresha Daycare and kindergarten do not have an operational permit.
- The area inside the daycare is not equipped with CCTV
Based on the statement of one of the victims’ parents, Choi, the area inside Little Aresha Daycare has no CCTV installed. According to her, surveillance cameras are only placed outside.

- Parents are required to give notice, 1 hour before picking up their child
Still from Choi’s statement, Little Aresha Daycare is said to implement a suspicious pickup procedure. Parents are required to give notice via WhatsApp (WA) 1 hour before picking up their child.
“Every time picking up, you have to WA 30 minutes or 1 hour in advance. So, for example, if you’re on the way to pick up, you have to WA first half an hour ahead,” said Choi.
