The Vice Rector III of UIN Suska Riau, Harris Simaremare, expressed his concern over the slashing incident that occurred on campus.

“We express our concern for the incident that occurred on our campus in the Faculty of Sharia and Law. Of course, we did not want this to happen during Ramadan,” said Harris.

Regarding the incident, the university administration handed over the legal process of the perpetrator entirely to the police. On the other hand, the university administration will also take action against the perpetrator, who is also a student at UIN Suska, in accordance with the applicable code of ethics.

“We are committed to upholding the code of ethics on campus, and we leave the legal process entirely and transparently to the authorities,” Harris added.

The campus ensured that the perpetrator would face the harshest sanctions for his actions.

“The campus has internal rules in the form of a code of ethics. But if it is a criminal case, this student will automatically receive the harshest ethical punishment,” he concluded.
