A 5.3-metre-high boundary wall collapsed onto the grounds of SMPN 182 in Kalibata, South Jakarta, on Sunday (15/2).

Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Isnawa Adji said the wall was suspected to have collapsed due to unstable ground construction.

"A wall belonging to a resident, measuring 65 metres in length and 5.3 metres in height, suddenly collapsed towards SMPN 182 because the soil structure was unstable (landfill soil), causing the wall to give way," Isnawa said in a statement on Monday (16/2).

Isnawa confirmed there were no casualties in the incident. However, the collapsed wall caused drainage channels to become blocked and the school's parking area was affected.

Isnawa noted that on 24 December 2025, the school had already sent a letter to the homeowner advising that the wall was leaning. The homeowner then promised to carry out repairs after the Lunar New Year celebrations.

However, the boundary wall collapsed on Monday instead. Following the incident, the school, the homeowner and relevant parties held a meeting to follow up on the matter.

"An agreement was reached from the meeting, in which the homeowner stated they would take responsibility for repairing the buildings (the wall fence and reception room) of SMPN 182 to their original condition," Isnawa said.

As a follow-up measure, Isnawa said, an excavator belonging to the South Jakarta Water Resources Agency immediately began clearing debris from the river channel to prevent flooding that could affect surrounding residents.

"The work will be completed as soon as possible before students return to school on 23 February 2026," Isnawa said.

The wall collapse was also captured on CCTV footage and circulated on social media, including on the Instagram account @jakartaselatan24jam.

"CCTV footage shows the moments the school wall collapsed. The incident occurred at SMP Negeri 182 Kalibata, Pancoran, South Jakarta, on Sunday (15/2) afternoon," the post stated.
