West Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Commissioner Twedi Aditya Bennyahdi announced that the West Jakarta Metropolitan Police, together with the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and related agencies, have deployed 453 joint personnel to secure Lunar New Year celebrations. Security operations are being conducted at 42 temples that have notified authorities of their plans to hold worship services for Chinese New Year 2577 Kongzili.

Twedi, accompanied by West Jakarta Metropolitan Police Deputy Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Rezi Dharmawan and senior officers, visited a number of temples in West Jakarta on Monday (16 February). The visits were conducted to directly review security preparations and ensure that worshippers could celebrate the Lunar New Year safely, comfortably, and with full solemnity.

Among the temples visited were Dharma Bhakti Temple in Tamansari, Toa Se Bio Temple in Tamansari, Maitreya Training Centre Temple, and Ekayana Temple in Kebon Jeruk.

During the visits, the police chief and his entourage engaged in direct dialogue with temple administrators and observed the activities of worshippers who had been arriving since the afternoon to offer prayers.

"Since one o'clock yesterday afternoon, worshippers have been arriving to pray in shifts. The numbers are expected to increase further tomorrow, as has been the experience in previous years," Twedi said in a statement on Tuesday (17 February 2026).

To anticipate traffic congestion, police have stationed personnel at several intersections and points prone to gridlock. However, no special traffic diversions have been implemented to avoid creating additional congestion, given that several major locations are also hosting construction projects and festival activities.

The West Jakarta Metropolitan Police are maintaining the same security pattern as in previous years, prioritising coordination with the TNI and related agencies.

This measure reflects the Indonesian National Police's commitment to providing a sense of security for all members of the public, whilst maintaining an atmosphere of togetherness and inter-religious tolerance in West Jakarta.

With thorough preparations and solid collaboration, it is hoped that the 2026 Lunar New Year celebrations will proceed safely, in an orderly manner, and with full meaning for all those celebrating.
