The Government of Bali Province has set the quota for subsidised LPG gas, or Elpiji 3-kilogram, for 2026 at 227,934 metric tonnes (MT). According to data received by detikBali, Denpasar City has the largest allocation, at 50,714 MT. Head of the Bali Department of Manpower and Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ida Bagus Setiawan urged the public to understand that the 3-kilogram Elpiji subsidy is intended for low-income households as well as micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). ‘We have written to the ministry and then Pertamina to ensure that at the start of the year and during major holidays the supply is safe, which is monitored to ensure distribution is targeted correctly or not,’ said Setiawan on Wednesday (4/3/2026). According to Setiawan, the subsidy amount will not be effective if its on-the-ground implementation is not aligned and targeted. Such conditions are considered one of the drivers of shortages and running out of LPG stocks in several areas. He highlighted the high activity of people in Denpasar and Badung. In addition to local residents, many people from outside the region work in these two areas, so subsidised gas distribution risks not being targeted properly. ‘In our calculations we proposed quotas by domicile, but those accessing it from outside will surely lead to imbalances, misalignment, and inaccuracy,’ Setiawan explained. He added that after Denpasar, the next largest allocations were in Buleleng with 29,020 MT, Gianyar 26,046 MT, Tabanan 24,935 MT, and Badung 24,498 MT. Meanwhile the four districts with the lowest allocations were Karangasem 21,518 MT, Bangli 20,100 MT, Jembrana 17,490 MT, and Klungkung 13,613 MT. Setiawan hopes that the subsidised LPG stock in Bali remains secure ahead of Idul Fitri and Nyepi. He asked the relevant agencies in regencies/cities to urge the public to be orderly and to purchase subsidised gas in accordance with subsidy rules. ‘If we at the provincial level are somewhat hampered because the users are registered as residents of the regencies/cities, this is a recurring constraint; going forward we will work together to find a solution,’ concluded Setiawan.
