The South Sumatra Provincial Police (Polda Sumsel) is strengthening support for the national social welfare programme through police community service by simultaneously renovating houses across South Sumatra province in commemoration of Bhayangkara Day 2026.

Provincial Police Chief Irjen Sandi Nugroho directly led the activity as a tangible manifestation of the Indonesian National Police’s (Polri) presence among the community in need, while also affirming the implementation of a precise, humane, and responsive Polri.

This house renovation programme serves as a concrete step in providing decent housing for the community, particularly residents affected by disasters and those with economic limitations.

Overall, Polda Sumsel personnel carried out renovations on 37 house units scattered across various jurisdictions, through total repairs or partial renovations.

The house renovation activity was conducted simultaneously, and symbolically carried out at the residence of Mr Indra Irmawan in Kelurahan 13 Ulu, Seberang Ulu II Subdistrict, Palembang, on Friday, 10 April 2026.

The on-site implementation involved local community figures as a form of synergy between the police and the community in supporting the social programme. In addition, the activity was interspersed with the provision of social assistance to the surrounding community.

This programme prioritises residents’ houses in unfit conditions due to the age of the building or the impact of disasters such as fires ahead of Eid al-Fitr. Thus, the assistance provided is expected to bring safer, healthier, and more decent homes for the beneficiaries.

This step aligns with the national priority programme in poverty alleviation as well as the National Police Chief’s policy through the Polri Presisi concept, which emphasises a service approach based on humanity. Polda Sumsel ensures that the commemoration of Bhayangkara Day is not merely ceremonial but is realised through real actions directly felt by the community.

Main officials of Polda and all Palembang Sector Police Chiefs accompanied the Provincial Police Chief to ensure the entire implementation process runs on target and according to the needs of the aid recipients.

In his direction, the Provincial Police Chief emphasised that Polri must always be close to the community. “Polri must not be distant from the community. We must be present, feel, and help the difficulties faced by residents. This programme is not just about building houses, but also building better hopes for life,” Sandi asserted firmly.
