37,877 People Leave Bali via Gilimanuk Port Eight Days Before Eid, Down 30.5%
Eid exodus traffic at Gilimanuk Port in Jembrana, Bali, shows a declining trend compared to last year. Entering eight days before Eid, the number of passengers crossing from Bali to Java dropped significantly by 30.5%, whilst the reverse flow from Java to Bali increased instead.
Based on data from the Gilimanuk Command Post, PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (State-Owned Enterprise) Gilimanuk Branch recorded 37,877 passengers crossing to Java during a 24-hour period (13 January 2026, 00:00 to 23:59 Western Indonesian Time). This figure represents a substantial decline compared to the same period last year, which reached 54,478 people.
A similar pattern is evident in the number of vehicles leaving Bali. Total vehicles crossing numbered 12,176 units, down 25.3% compared to last year’s 16,305 units.
The breakdown of vehicles departing Bali on day 8 before Eid includes 6,066 motorcycles, down 34.9% from 9,316 units in the corresponding period last year. Private cars numbered 3,573 units, down 10.8% from 4,004 units last year.

“Cumulatively, from day 10 to day 8 before Eid, the total number of passengers leaving Bali through Gilimanuk Port was 97,572 people, down 19.9% compared to the same period last year (121,874 people),” said PT ASDP Gilimanuk Manager Didi Juliansyah when confirmed by detikBali on Saturday.
In contrast with the trend at Gilimanuk, passenger flow from Java to Bali through Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi showed a slight increase. On day 8 before Eid (13 January 2026), total passengers entering Bali reached 26,173 people. This figure rose 6.2% compared to the same period last year’s 24,640 passengers.
Although passenger numbers increased, the private vehicle sector at Ketapang Port experienced a decline. Motorcycles dropped 7.3% (561 units) and private cars declined 7.3% (1,565 units).
An increase occurred in logistics and public transport vehicles travelling from Java to Bali. Trucks numbered 2,604 units, up 10.8% compared to 2,350 units in the same period last year.
Additionally, buses totalled 635 units, an increase of 7.4% from 591 units last year. Overall, the total number of vehicles entering Bali on day 8 before Eid reached 5,365 units, up 2.5% compared to the same period the previous year.
Port authorities recorded 220 sailing trips at Gilimanuk and 231 trips at Ketapang operated within the last 24 hours to serve exodus travellers and logistics flows.
“Currently on Saturday, 31 ferries are operating across the Bali Strait. We have already entered a very congested pattern,” stated Didi.
