30% Toll Discount Limited to Two Days, Jasa Marga Hopes Lebaran Return Traffic Congestion Will Ease
PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk is urging the public to take advantage of the 30% toll fee discount on 26–27 March 2026 to help alleviate the density of Lebaran return traffic. Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A Purwantono stated that the toll discount policy is part of a strategy to distribute vehicles so they do not concentrate on the peak return flow. “We are once again reminding the public to utilise the toll discount on 26–27 March and use the Travoy app to plan their journeys better,” he said in Jakarta on Thursday, 26 March 2026. He explained that Jasa Marga has passed the first phase peak of return traffic on 24 March with controlled conditions, although there was a significant surge in vehicles beforehand. “The outbound peak on 18 March 2026 reached 270,000, the highest figure in history. The control of the first phase return peak also went well,” he said. According to him, utilisation of the toll discount is expected to encourage the public to schedule their trips earlier, so that density does not pile up at the return peak projected for 28–29 March. Rivan added that the public is also advised to use apps and conduct research to monitor traffic conditions and plan journeys more efficiently. “The main focus is to anticipate the return peak so that vehicle distribution remains controlled,” he stated. He mentioned that Jasa Marga is optimising real-time traffic monitoring through the Jasamarga Toll Road Command Center (JMTC) to support traffic engineering decisions, such as contraflow and one-way systems. The government, together with Jasa Marga, continues to urge road users to plan their journeys carefully, avoid peak times, and ensure that vehicles and drivers are in prime condition to support the smooth flow of Lebaran return traffic in 2026. Previously, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, along with Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, inspected traffic conditions at the JMTC in Bekasi, West Java. During the inspection, traffic conditions were monitored via JMTC, and cross-agency coordination was carried out to anticipate surges in vehicle volume during the return flow.
