3 Things Known About Bro Ron Being Attacked During Mediation
Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Ronald A. Sinaga, alias Bro Ron, experienced an assault incident in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta. The assault occurred while Bro Ron was accompanying several employees of a company in mediation regarding unpaid wages.
The assault on Bro Ron went viral after being uploaded by the Instagram account of NasDem politician Sahroni. In the video, before Bro Ron was struck, a man wearing a cream-coloured collared T-shirt was seen talking to a Babinsa member.
Shortly afterwards, a person in a black T-shirt suddenly appeared and punched Ronald in the face, causing him to stagger. The assailant emerged abruptly.
After the assault, the commotion intensified. However, officers at the scene, along with several others, quickly intervened to separate the parties. Here is a summary of the case compiled by detikcom.
- A Group of People Carried Out Intimidation
Head of Public Relations at Central Jakarta Metro Police Station, First Inspector Erlyn Sumantri, explained that the assault occurred on Monday (4/5) at 16:22 WIB. Initially, Ronald arrived with 15 employees of PT SKS to hold an audience at the MPP law office regarding the employees’ unpaid wages.
“Because the audience could not meet with the MPP party as the target of the demonstration, Metro Menteng Police Station took the initiative to hold mediation at the Metro Menteng Police Station office,” Erlyn explained.
She said the initial audience at the location proceeded safely and conducively with police accompaniment. However, a group of unknown individuals then appeared without clear reason and carried out intimidation, obstructing the audience process.
“As a result of the actions of that group, the situation heated up and an argument arose, ultimately leading to the victim receiving a punch from that group,” Erlyn clarified.
“Then, officers separated the victim and the suspect and secured them to be brought to Metro Menteng Police Station for further examination,” she added.
- The Perpetrator Was Arrested
Menteng Police Chief, AKBP Braiel Arnold Rondonuwu, said the assault perpetrator along with one party involved in the brawl had been arrested. Both are currently undergoing examination at the Menteng Police Station.
“Yes, the suspected perpetrator has been secured by me. Yes (the victim is PSI Deputy Chairman Ronald A. Sinaga),” Braiel said when asked for confirmation on Tuesday (5/5).
- Bro Ron Speaks Out
When asked for a separate confirmation, Ronald explained that he attended the audience because the MPP party the PT SKS employees wanted to meet was an old acquaintance of his. However, unexpectedly, Ronald became the victim of an assault by parties claiming to be the office security for MPP.
“They said they were there for office security and asked everyone to leave the building. If there’s to be a demonstration, do it outside the building. About 10 seconds after they appeared from the stairs, the assault as seen in the video occurred,” Ronald stated.
