Three defendants in the corruption case involving the management of crude oil and refinery products at PT Pertamina (Persero) have been sentenced to 14 years in prison. They include the President Director of PT Pertamina International Shipping, Yoki Firnandi; VP of Feedstock Management at PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional, Agus Purwono; and Director of Feedstock and Product Optimization at PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional, Sani Dinar Saifuddin.

“The court sentences Defendant Yoki Firnandi to 14 years of imprisonment, reduced by the time the Defendant has spent in temporary detention, with the order that the Defendant remain in custody,” said the Public Prosecutor at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Friday (13/2).

Sani and the other defendants were also ordered to pay a fine of Rp 1 billion, with the provision that failure to pay would be substituted with 190 days of imprisonment. Additionally, the prosecutors demanded that Sani and the other defendants pay restitution of Rp 5 billion, with a subsidiary sentence of 7 years.

In handing down the sentence, prosecutors considered a number of aggravating and mitigating factors. The aggravating factors included that the defendants’ actions did not support the government’s efforts to maintain clean and corruption-free governance. Furthermore, the defendants’ actions contributed to enormous state financial losses and damage to the national economy.

The mitigating factor was that the defendants had no prior criminal record.

Previously, a total of 18 individuals were named as suspects by the Attorney General’s Office in this case. They were charged with enriching themselves, others, or corporations, causing state losses of up to Rp 285.18 trillion. One of the suspects is the son of Riza Chalid, Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza. As for Riza Chalid himself, he remains a fugitive on the wanted persons list (DPO) to this day.
