The Disaster Management Operations Centre (Pusdalops PB) for Sumatra Utara has recorded 3,554 people still sheltering at evacuation sites following the hydrometeorological disaster that struck the province on 27 November 2025. According to the latest report received on Sunday, 1 March 2026, these displaced persons comprise 921 households distributed across two of the 20 affected districts and municipalities.

The Pusdalops PB recorded that the majority of evacuees are located in Central Tapanuli District with 2,564 individuals, whilst South Tapanuli District is sheltering 990 persons. Sri Wahyuni Pancasilawati, Head of Emergency Response, Equipment and Logistics at the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Sumatra Utara, emphasised that this report represents provisional data received by Pusdalops PB as of 1 March 2026 at 17:00 WIB.

The affected area includes 20 districts and cities across the province: Medan City, Tebing Tinggi City, Binjai City, Padangsidimpuan City, Sibolga City, Deliserdang District, Serdang Bedagai District, Langkat District, Humbang Hasundutan District, and Pakpak Bharat District, among others.

Humanitarian relief efforts are being coordinated across the affected regions. AEON has distributed humanitarian assistance through the National Zakat Collection Agency (Baznas) to support recovery efforts in Sumatra, particularly in areas affected by flash floods in December. The Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) has distributed humanitarian aid valued at Rp300 million to assist in disaster response for flash floods and landslides in Aceh and Sumatra Utara. Additionally, six districts in Sumatra Utara have been identified as high-risk areas for the 2025/2026 holiday season mudik (mass homecoming) migration due to incomplete recovery from disaster impacts.

The Ministry of Forestry, through its Aceh Regional Coordination Unit, continues accelerating disaster recovery efforts including clearing of accumulated timber and materials. The Ministry of Agriculture plans to rehabilitate 436.99 hectares of chilli farmland in Sumatra Utara damaged by flooding and landslides. Despite the ongoing reconstruction challenges, residents in affected areas have begun returning to normalcy, with schools and agricultural lands being prioritised for rehabilitation.
