26 Suspected Foreign Victims of Kidnapping in Kuta Handed Over to Immigration
Denpasar City Police Resort (Polresta Denpasar) has handed over 26 foreign nationals (WNA) to the Class I Special Immigration Office at Ngurah Rai Airport. The 26 foreign nationals were transferred as a follow-up to the handling of suspected kidnapping in Kedonganan Village, Kuta Subdistrict, Badung Regency.
Head of Public Relations Section (Kasi Humas) of Polresta Denpasar, Iptu I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, stated that the handover is part of the legal process, particularly regarding the immigration aspects of the foreign nationals.
“As part of the case handling, the 26 foreign nationals who were previously secured have been handed over to the Immigration Office to undergo further processes in accordance with immigration regulations,” said Adi on Wednesday (29/4/2026).
The handover took place on Wednesday (29/4/2026) and was led by the Head of Jatanras Unit of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Polresta Denpasar, Iptu I Kadek Astaga, along with personnel at the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office. This step also represents inter-agency coordination to ensure that the handling of foreign nationals is carried out in accordance with applicable legal procedures.
To date, Adi explained, investigators are still conducting further examinations related to the suspected criminal acts in the case. Coordination is also being carried out with immigration authorities and embassies to delve into the status and roles of each foreign national.
“Currently, investigators are still conducting examinations related to this case and coordinating with immigration authorities and embassies,” Adi added.
Previously reported, a joint team from Polresta Denpasar and Kuta Police Sector raided a guesthouse on Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai, Gang Karang Sari, Kedonganan Village, Kuta Subdistrict, Badung, on Monday (27/4/2026). The raid was carried out following a report from the Embassy of the Philippines in Jakarta regarding the suspected kidnapping of their citizens who were to be employed as online scam operators.
Initially, officers secured 27 people during the raid, consisting of 26 foreign nationals from various countries, including the Philippines and Kenya, as well as one Indonesian citizen. Preliminary examination results revealed that some of them could not show valid travel documents. Police are still delving into the suspected kidnapping and the possibility of a criminal network behind the case.
