250 Passengers Participate in Mataram City Free Mudik Programme, Iftar Meals Provided
Mataram City Government dispatched hundreds of homebound travellers in a free mudik (homecoming) programme titled ‘Mudik Seru Dengan Harum’ (Fun Mudik With Fragrance). The hundreds of travellers comprised students and private sector workers who had migrated to Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
“Due to the very high enthusiasm of travellers, this year there has been an addition of two fleet units from Bank NTB Syariah and four units from the city government. So in total there are six fleets. This free mudik is a manifestation of Mataram City Government’s presence to migrants by providing mudik facilities with safety, comfort and to minimise traffic congestion,” said the Head of Mataram City Transportation Department (Dishub) on Monday (16/3/2026).
“The capacity is approximately 250 passengers, this increase is due to the very high public enthusiasm,” he added.
Zulkarwin ensured that all fleets had undergone strict inspections and were in roadworthy condition. “Bus crews have undergone inspections, so they can provide comfort for travellers from Mataram. There will be iftar meals and dinner for passengers, so fasting will be safe,” he explained.
In addition to increasing the fleet, Mataram City Government also provided Jasa Raharja insurance to protect 250 travellers.
“This year we received support from PT Jasa Raharja. All travellers are protected by insurance for 14 days, both after reaching their destination and returning. God willing, everything will be safe and under control,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Mataram City Mayor Mohan Roliskana hoped that this year’s free mudik programme would be beneficial for hundreds of travellers planning to return to their hometowns.
“I ask the drivers to go slowly. I also request the transportation department head to ensure there are no technical obstacles at the port during the travellers’ departure,” he said.
Fitri, a traveller from Dompu, expressed her joy at obtaining a free ticket to her hometown.
“Alhamdulillah (praise be to God), I can go home this year. After competing in the registration, alhamdulillah I got selected. I hope there are no obstacles at the port,” she hoped.
For information, the six free mudik fleet units feature various premium facilities, including air conditioning, television, toilet, reclining seats, GPS tracking, USB ports, and baggage storage. The six buses prepared will transport hundreds of travellers via three destination routes: Mataram-Sumbawa, Mataram-Dompu, and Mataram-Bima.
