25 Long-Distance Train Journeys Disrupted Due to Train Accident in Bekasi
The train accident (KA) involving Argo Bromo Anggrek with a KRL at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi City has impacted long-distance train journeys. So far, 25 long-distance train journeys have been disrupted.
“Twenty-five (journeys) trains (long-distance),” said KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin during a press conference at Bekasi Timur Station on Tuesday (28/4/2026). Bobby was responding to a journalist’s question about how many long-distance train journeys were disrupted due to the accident at Bekasi Timur Station.
Bobby explained that long-distance trains and KRL at Bekasi Timur Station share one track. Therefore, their usage must alternate.
“We are using the downstream track because we take turns, as we know that (Bekasi Timur Station) is still double track, not yet double-double track,” he clarified.
Bobby could not yet confirm when long-distance train journeys would return to normal. His side will monitor the situation.
“We evaluate, we check each component one by one, check each system. As soon as everything is (in accordance) with UIC (International Union of Railways) standards, we will operate,” he added.
It is known that the accident occurred on Monday night (27/4). The total death toll from the accident is 14 people. In addition, there are 84 people injured.
The accident happened when the KRL that was hit was stopped because there was another KRL stuck with a taxi at the crossing at Bekasi Timur Station. The hard collision caused the women’s carriage at the rear to be torn and penetrated by the Argo Bromo train.
The evacuation process for the train accident victims has been completed. All evacuated victims are female.
“100 percent of those we evacuated (victims) are women,” said Head of Basarnas Major General TNI M Syafii.
He explained that the evacuation process was completed at 08.00 WIB earlier. All SAR teams have also been withdrawn.
