The Purwomartani Toll Gate in Kalasan, Sleman, will be designated as an exclusive exit point during the 2026 Lebaran mudik (homecoming) season.

According to the Assistant Sub-Director of Traffic Control at the Regional Police Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) Polda DIY, Chief Commissioner Widya Mustikaningrum, the Purwomartani–Prambanan toll section, approximately 12.25 kilometres long, will serve vehicles travelling from Yogyakarta towards Klaten, Solo, and surrounding areas. This special toll operation will run from 16 to 29 March 2026, from 06:00 to 18:00 WIB.

“Class I vehicles, including sedans, jeeps, minibuses, pick-ups, small trucks, and buses, are permitted to enter the toll via the Purwomartani gate free of charge. However, tolls will apply at subsequent toll gates,” Widya explained.

She added that vehicles entering from Purwomartani cannot exit at Prambanan; instead, they must continue to the Klaten Toll Gate or the next exit point.

Travellers heading to DIY from Central Java can use the Prambanan Toll Exit or other exits in Klaten, then continue via designated arterial routes.

During the mudik and return periods, the Regional Police will implement traffic management measures to ensure smooth mobility, including closing several U-turns on certain road sections and implementing one-way systems in Yogyakarta city and the Gunungkidul coastal tourism routes.

“We hope road users will always comply with traffic regulations and follow the instructions of traffic officers on the ground and additional signage,” she concluded.

Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi estimates that the peak congestion of the 1447 Hijri/2026 Lebaran mudik season will occur on 16 and 18 March 2026.

This situation is critical because Ketapang–Gilimanuk Port operations will be completely closed on 18 March to honour religious rituals in Bali.

The Transport Ministry, together with the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) and the Public Works Ministry, has established a strategy for operational distribution of inter-island ferry terminals for the 2026 Lebaran transport period.

Mudik traffic at Sampit Port in East Kotawaringin Regency (Kotim), Central Kalimantan, has begun experiencing significant increases.
