Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi closed the Integrated Eid Transport Command Post for 2026 (1447 H) at the Ministry of Transport headquarters on Monday (30/3/2026). Dudy stated that, based on mobile positioning data (MPD), the number of people travelling during the Eid transport period (13-29 March 2026) reached 147.55 million people, an increase of 2.53% from the survey result of 143.92 million people.

“This year’s Eid transport operations represent a major collective effort, involving intensive cross-sector coordination, both between ministries/institutions, local governments, transport operators, and all related stakeholders. This collaboration is the key to ensuring that the public can undertake their homecoming and return journeys safely, securely, and smoothly,” said Dudy.

From the total number of public transport passengers, he noted a 10.87% increase during this year’s Eid transport period compared to the previous year, from 21.23 million passengers to 23.54 million passengers.

The breakdown by mode of transport includes: road transport with 3.89 million passengers, an increase of 11.64% compared to 2025’s 3.49 million passengers; sea transport with 2.02 million passengers, an increase of 9.86% compared to 2025’s 1.84 million passengers; air transport with 4.77 million passengers, an increase of 6.97% compared to 2025’s 4.47 million passengers; rail transport with 7.31 million passengers, an increase of 10.13% compared to 2025’s 6.64 million passengers; and ferry transport with 5.52 million passengers, an increase of 15.36% compared to 2025’s 4.79 million passengers.

Meanwhile, on the safety front, police data shows that the number of traffic accidents during the 2026 Eid transport period was 3,517 incidents, a decrease of 6.31% compared to the previous year’s total of 3,754 incidents. Dudy said that accident fatalities also decreased by 31.19% compared to the previous year, with 300 deaths from accidents, compared to 436 in the 2025 Eid transport period.

“This achievement is something we should be grateful for, but it must also serve as material for evaluation for future improvements. I want to emphasise once again that safety remains the top priority in every transport operation. There should be no compromise on the airworthiness of facilities, readiness of infrastructure, or compliance with operational standards,” said Dudy.

Dudy continues to push for strengthening safety, including the implementation of ramp checks, field supervision, and integrated traffic control. Likewise, the utilisation of technology and information systems to improve responses to field dynamics.

On the other hand, the quality of service to the public must also be continuously improved. “Transport must be an effort to move people and goods while providing a sense of safety, comfort, and certainty to the public,” Dudy continued.

On this occasion, Dudy appreciated the hard work, dedication, and synergy of all parties, including all elements of the TNI, Police, all related ministries/institutions, all ranks of the Ministry of Transport, local governments, transport operators in all modes, and all parties who worked tirelessly during this year’s Eid transport period.

Special thanks and appreciation were also expressed by Dudy to all media institutions, mass media, and national journalists for their informative, comprehensive, and honest reporting during the 2026 Eid transport period, so that the public received accurate information regarding the homecoming and return journey situations.

“And of course, I must express thanks to all the public who have complied with the instructions of the officers and actively participated in maintaining order and safety during the journeys,” said Dudy.
