2026 BRICS Summit Produces New Delhi Declaration, Driving Commitment Towards Tangible Results

The 18th BRICS Summit 2026 has produced the New Delhi Declaration, which was mutually agreed upon by the BRICS member nations. This declaration serves as a shared roadmap to translate various commitments into tangible steps and measurable results.

The declaration was adopted during the 2026 BRICS Summit held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, Republic of India, on Saturday (12/09/2026). Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the closed-door session of the 2026 BRICS Summit was meaningful and constructive, clearly outlining various global realities.

PM Modi noted that global changes necessitate the renewal of international institutions, particularly regarding aspects of representation, responsiveness, and rules of engagement.

“We must work through partnership and collective action to bridge the gap between commitment and results. The ‘New Delhi Declaration’ adopted today provides a clear direction for our shared determination. It is now our responsibility to translate these commitments into real results,” said PM Modi, as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat Bureau statement.

On this occasion, President Prabowo Subianto emphasised the importance of BRICS’ collective strength in ensuring that various shared commitments provide real benefits to the people. Prabowo assessed that such strength must not remain merely on paper, but must be translated into opportunities for the public and strengthen the voice of the Global South in determining its own future.

“This is the type of collective strength we need. Strength that does not stop on paper, but is translated into opportunities for our people. Strength that allows the Global South to have a larger voice in shaping its own future,” said Prabonto.

Prabowo added that the collective strength possessed by BRICS must also be utilised to build a more just and equitable international order. According to Prabowo, the cooperation between BRICS nations can serve as a force to ensure that the voices and interests of the Global South are increasingly taken into account in global governance.

“The same strength must also be used to build a more just and equitable international order. Together, we can make our strength count,” he added.
