The declaration was adopted during the 2026 BRICS Summit held at\nBharat Mandapam, New Delhi, Republic of India, on Saturday (12\/09\/2026).\nIndian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the closed-door session\nof the 2026 BRICS Summit was meaningful and constructive, clearly\noutlining various global realities.<\/p>\n
PM Modi noted that global changes necessitate the renewal of\ninternational institutions, particularly regarding aspects of\nrepresentation, responsiveness, and rules of engagement.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe must work through partnership and collective action to bridge the\ngap between commitment and results. The \u2018New Delhi Declaration\u2019 adopted\ntoday provides a clear direction for our shared determination. It is now\nour responsibility to translate these commitments into real results,\u201d\nsaid PM Modi, as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat Bureau\nstatement.<\/p>\n
On this occasion, President Prabowo Subianto emphasised the\nimportance of BRICS\u2019 collective strength in ensuring that various shared\ncommitments provide real benefits to the people. Prabowo assessed that\nsuch strength must not remain merely on paper, but must be translated\ninto opportunities for the public and strengthen the voice of the Global\nSouth in determining its own future.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the type of collective strength we need. Strength that does\nnot stop on paper, but is translated into opportunities for our people.\nStrength that allows the Global South to have a larger voice in shaping\nits own future,\u201d said Prabonto.<\/p>\n
Prabowo added that the collective strength possessed by BRICS must\nalso be utilised to build a more just and equitable international order.\nAccording to Prabowo, the cooperation between BRICS nations can serve as\na force to ensure that the voices and interests of the Global South are\nincreasingly taken into account in global governance.<\/p>\n
