- The Command to Read the Qur’an for Muslims
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
The Nuzulul Quran event begins with the descent of the first verse in QS. Al-‘Alaq: Iqra’ (read). The command to read shows that Islam is a religion of knowledge and civilization.
Therefore, Ramadan should be a month of increasing knowledge and faith. Do not let the Qur’an merely be a reading; make it a light in our minds and actions.
Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
- The Qur’an Emits Light that Illuminates Life
Assalamualaikum wr. wb.
Nuzulul Quran is the descent of light for human life. Without the Qur’an, the heart is easily darkened by sin and arrogance. With the Qur’an, life becomes directed and meaningful.
Let us fill Ramadan with tilawah (recitation) and tadabbur (reflection) so that our hearts are illuminated by Allah’s guidance.

- Self-Reflection on Nuzulul Al-Quran: Let Us Read the Qur’an
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
At this moment we have passed the mid-Ramadan, exactly on the 17th of Ramadan. This date is understood as the time of Nuzulul Quran (the descent of the Qur’an). This event is often celebrated with exuberance. In addition to mosques and prayer houses, even the state palace also holds Nuzulul Al-Quran commemorations.
The essence of the Nuzulul Quran commemoration is for Muslims to derive hikmah/ibrah from the descent of the Qur’an. Thus, the community is expected to become closer to the Qur’an, read more, reflect on its meanings, and practice it.
As Allah SWT says:
Let us read the Qur’an more, especially during Ramadhan, the month of grandeur and virtue. Let us adorn Ramadhan with Qur’anic reading. The Nuzul Quran event is not merely celebrated ceremonially, but is used as an effort to cultivate a culture of reading the Qur’an.
Insha Allah, the more often we read and implement the Qur’an, the greater our hope to obtain intercession and blessings from the Qur’an on the Day of Judgment. In the future, let there be no more generations of Indonesian Muslims who cannot read the Qur’an.
Start reading the Qur’an now. The Qur’an will calm the heart and mind, so that we find peace and happiness in this life. Do not let Ramadhan pass by without Qur’anic reading. No matter how busy you are, aim during this Ramadhan to complete the Qur’anic reading at least once.
May we remain steadfast in practicing it. That is what I can share.
Wassalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Nuzulul Qur’an is not merely a remembrance of the descent of revelation, but also a moment to embed the Qur’anic values into our morals.
