Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Provincial Government has recorded that 185 out of 397 padel courts in the capital do not have the necessary Building Approval Permit (PBG).

“As of 23 February 2026, there are 185 padel courts that do not have a PBG,” said the Head of the Department of Public Works, Spatial Planning and Land Affairs (Citata) of Jakarta, Vera Revina Sari, via a text message on Wednesday.

Vera acknowledged that the rapid development of padel courts in Jakarta is remarkable. A total of 212 padel courts have already obtained a PBG.

She emphasised that the PBG is a mandatory document that must be obtained before a building can be used legally. After obtaining the PBG, the operator can then apply for a Certificate of Operational Worthiness (SLF) as proof that the building is safe and suitable for use.

“The mandatory document is the PBG. The next permit is the SLF. Without a PBG, it is impossible to apply for an SLF,” she explained.

“Because we suspect that there are padel courts that do not have permits or a PBG,” said Pramono.

For the construction of new padel courts, Pramono emphasised that the owner must obtain initial technical approval from the Jakarta Youth and Sports Department.

Pramono said that this is done to serve as a reference so that not everyone who wants to build a padel court can simply build one in Jakarta.

In addition, the Jakarta government also prohibits padel courts from being built on assets owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government and in Green Open Spaces (RTH).

Furthermore, Pramono also prohibits padel courts from being built in residential areas. For padel courts located in residential areas that already have permits, Pramono has decided that the maximum operating hours will be until 8:00 PM.

This is done as a solution so that residents do not feel disturbed by the noise from the padel courts.
