Bandung – Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has praised the programme to build and renovate houses unfit for habitation (rutilahu) in West Java. The programme is seen as a response to the public’s expectations of a more tangible presence and benefits from the police. Sigit voiced his appreciation during the Ramadan Silaturahmi at the West Java Police Regional Headquarters.

During the event, Sigit expressed thanks to West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, West Java Police Chief Rudi Setiawan, and Pangdam Siliwangi Kosasih for synergising in implementing the programme.

‘Thank you, Governor, Chief of Police, and Pangdam who continue to work in synergy to implement a programme that certainly touches the underprivileged who need it,’ Sigit said, quoted on Thursday, 5 March 2026.

He stated that the construction and renovation of rutilahu are highly beneficial to the people, especially the lower-income group. He emphasised that the Polri must be able to be present and hear directly the aspirations of the people.

‘Polri must be able to carry out and listen to what are the aspirations and hopes of the people so that, day by day, the Polri institution can carry out its duties in line with what the people want, especially the people of West Java,’ he said.

According to the presented data, the rutilahu programme in West Java has touched 168 housing units. Of these, 67 units have been completed, while 101 others are still in the process of construction.

Not only highlighting the social programme, the former Kabareskrim (Head of the Criminal Investigation Department) of the Polri also reminded the importance of maintaining unity amid a volatile global situation, including the escalating tensions in the Middle East.

‘The situation we are facing, the global impact we face, obviously requires unity. That is the main key to maintaining stability in public order and security,’ he said.

Furthermore, Sigit stressed that amid global dynamics the government remains committed to implementing strategic programmes to drive growth and public welfare. He said this can only be achieved with the solidarity of all elements of the nation.

‘Of course, what forms the programmes related to food security and energy security must also be monitored by us. Because this is part of our effort to confront the global dynamics that exist,’ he said.
