160 planes to join in ABRI Day

JAKARTA (JP): A total of 160 planes of various types are scheduled to participate in a aerobatics demonstration to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Indonesian Armed Forces (ABRI) on Oct. 5.

Among the airplanes to take part in the show, at the Halim Perdanakusuma air base in East Jakarta, are the F-16 Fighting Falcons, the Air Force revealed in a statement last week.

The F-16s will demonstrate fly-pass formation and other stunning maneuvers, they stated.

Air Force leaders said their personnel have been practicing hard to give a top performance, as well as to minimize the possibility of accident.

The planes will come to the Jakarta show from various bases, including the Iswahyudi airport of Madiun in East Java, Husein Sastranegara in Bandung, Atang Sanjaya in Bogor and Pondok Cabe near Jakarta. (bsr)
