RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Jakarta Quarantine Agency has reinforced its commitment to maintaining quality standards for fishery commodities by conducting strict inspections of dried salted fish exports bound for Sri Lanka.

A total of 15,860 kilograms, or about 15 tons, of product passed verification and are ready to enter the international market. Inspections in Penjaringan confirmed that the goods matched the export documents in type and quantity.

The commodities included dried spotted sardinella, dried catfish, and dried queenfish. All were declared in good condition and met Sri Lanka’s requirements, supported by complete laboratory test results from the Banten Province Marine Affairs and Fisheries Agency.

Jakarta Quarantine Agency Head Amir Hasanuddin emphasized that rigorous supervision is essential to maintaining global market confidence. “Every export commodity must undergo a strict quarantine process to guarantee its quality and safety. This is crucial to maintaining Indonesia’s reputation in the international market,” Amir said in a statement on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

The shipment carries an economic value of approximately IDR 232 million, underscoring the fisheries sector’s contribution to Indonesia’s foreign exchange earnings. The strong demand for salted fish in Sri Lanka also presents a continuing market opportunity for Indonesian processed products.

Beyond ensuring product suitability, the Quarantine Agency encourages businesses to consistently comply with export standards and regulations. “Compliance with quarantine requirements will streamline the export process and strengthen our products’ position in the global market,” Amir added.

By supervising this process, the Jakarta Quarantine Agency highlights its dual role as regulator and facilitator, supporting national fishery exports so they can compete sustainably in the global market. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
