The 2026 Free State-Owned Enterprises Homecoming Programme has officially been launched, involving various state-owned companies, including PT PLN (Persero), which is transporting 12,500 homecoming participants from various cities in Indonesia. This programme forms part of the government’s efforts to provide safe, comfortable, and environmentally friendly homecoming journeys.

The launch event was conducted by the Danantara Investment Management Agency together with the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency in the Gelora Bung Karno area, Jakarta, with a total of 116,688 participants, surpassing the initial target of 104,000 homecomers.

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, expressed appreciation for the implementation of the programme.

“The government extends thanks and appreciation to the state-owned enterprises that have carried out the free homecoming, as this will certainly reduce journeys using private vehicles, especially motorbikes. In line with President Prabowo’s directive that if we can provide the best services for the community, this certainly shows that the state and government are always present for them,” he stated.

Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency, Dony Oskaria, emphasised that this programme is a tangible manifestation of state-owned enterprises’ care for the community.

“The Free State-Owned Enterprises Homecoming Programme is a manifestation of mutual cooperation and state-owned enterprises’ concern for the community. We want to ensure that the community can undertake their homecoming journeys more safely, comfortably, and without incident, while also helping to reduce traffic congestion during the Eid period,” Dony added. “We hope all participants can arrive at their hometowns safely and celebrate Eid al-Fitr with their families in a secure and comfortable manner,” he continued.

PLN’s President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, stated full support for the programme in line with government directives.

“Through this programme, we hope the participants can enjoy a safe and comfortable homecoming journey, and celebrate moments of togetherness peacefully with their families in their hometowns,” Darmawan said.

PLN itself has increased its participant quota to 12,500 people, up from 11,322 participants the previous year. Departures are taking place simultaneously from seven cities, namely Jakarta, Surabaya, Bali, Makassar, Balikpapan, Padang, and Aceh, with various destination routes across Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi.

Beyond being a social programme, PLN is also ensuring that this homecoming aligns with sustainability principles. Through its subsidiary, PLN Energy Management Indonesia, a comprehensive carbon footprint calculation has been conducted. In a scenario using private fuel-powered vehicles, emissions are projected to reach 578 tonnes of CO2e. However, with the use of mass transportation such as buses, trains, and ferries, emissions have been reduced to 392 tonnes of CO2e.

PLN has also taken further steps through a carbon offset of 392 tonnes of CO2e from the Gunung Wugul Micro Hydro Power Plant, thereby achieving zero emissions or Net Zero Emission (NZE) for the programme.

“This is not just about delivering the community back to their hometowns, but also about how we contribute to ensuring that the journey is safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly,” Darmawan concluded.
