11th Russian EEF: Prabowo Explains Reasons for Implementing Free Nutritious Meal Programme

President Prabowo Subianto discussed the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme during the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Russia. He revealed that his administration is intensifying the programme to lift his people out of poverty.

Prabowo made these remarks while delivering a speech at the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday (3/9/2026). Prabowo began by addressing the theme of the EEF, titled ‘The Far East: Development for the Benefit of People’.

“That is the meaning of ‘Development for the Benefit of People’ for Indonesia: the greatest good for the greatest number. Development must not only benefit a few. Development must be measured at the dining tables of ordinary families. Whether children receive nutritious food, whether farmers can obtain fertiliser and sell their produce at a fair price, whether families can live in decent housing,” Prabowo stated in his speech.

Prabowo expressed that the forum’s theme aligns with his government’s programmes, specifically the MBG for children and pregnant women.

“This is why Indonesia provides free nutritious meals for all our children and for pregnant women,” he said.

Prabowo emphasised that his administration is driving rapid economic growth that delivers tangible impacts on society. He expressed his desire to see millions of his citizens lifted out of the poverty line.

“This is why we are striving for faster economic growth. Not growth merely for the sake of growth, but growth that can lift millions of people out of poverty towards a life of worthy dignity,” he added.
