A total of 105 informal street vendors (PKL) who previously occupied Jalan Adi Sucipto have been relocated to the Former Selaparang Airport area in Mataram City. The reorganisation has resulted in more orderly pavements and roadways, which were previously crowded with market stalls and frequently contributed to traffic congestion.

The relocation was carried out following an order from Mataram City Mayor Mohan Roliskana to reduce chaos along the Adi Sucipto corridor and consolidate PKL activities in a single designated zone.

“In accordance with the Mayor’s directive, our team has completed the reorganisation by relocating street vendors from Jalan Adi Sucipto. The vendors are now operating in the Former Selaparang Airport area,” said Lalu Martawang, Deputy I of the Mataram City Secretariat, on Tuesday (3 March 2026).

Mataram City Civil Service Police Chief Irwan Rahadi confirmed that all registered vendors have been relocated to the area, which is managed by Angkasa Pura Cooperative.

“We have completed the relocation. We have ensured that these 105 vendors are conducting their business and operating their stalls in the former airport area, which is now managed by Angkasa Pura Cooperative,” he said.

Irwan noted that following the relocation, public visits to the area have increased compared to when vendors were selling on Adi Sucipto.

“We have evaluated economic activity there, and the number of visitors entering the Former Selaparang Airport area is significantly higher in scale. This is because people can park more comfortably and the area is more spacious,” he explained.

Despite the reported high enthusiasm, the city administration has closed the possibility of adding more vendors.

“We have requested that the airport management implement a closure. No further additions are permitted. The quota has been set. A task force team will continue to monitor the area,” he stated firmly.

Previously, Mayor Mohan had called for the Former Selaparang Airport land to be utilised as a zone for street vendors and small-medium enterprises (UMKM) through cooperation with Angkasa Pura. The Former Selaparang Airport ceased operations in 2011, but continues to be used for concerts and national-scale events.
