103 Families Affected by Land Movement in Tegal Begin Occupying Temporary Housing
JAKARTA - A total of 103 families (KK) affected by the land movement disaster in Padasari Village, Tegal Regency, Central Java, have begun occupying temporary housing (huntara) built by the Ministry of Public Works (PU). The relocation of residents is being carried out gradually as the housing units ready for use are completed on site. This huntara serves as an initial step for the residents to resume their activities in a safer and more comfortable manner following the disaster. Minister of PU Dody Hanggodo emphasised the importance of accelerating the provision of temporary housing, particularly ahead of Eid al-Fitr, to ensure that the community does not remain in evacuation centres for too long. The construction of the huntara is being carried out by the Central Java Provincial Implementation Unit for Settlement Infrastructure (PPS) under the Directorate General of Strategic Infrastructure of the Ministry of PU, with support from PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk. As of 16 March 2026, the construction progress of the huntara has reached 82.67 percent. Out of the total planned 456 units, 204 units or 17 building blocks have been completed. This includes worship facilities in the form of a mosque, which has been fully built and is now being utilised by the community. Overall, the huntara is designed with 456 units equipped with various supporting facilities such as places of worship, kitchens, toilets in each block, and other amenities. Each unit is also provided with basic facilities including beds, mattresses, pillows, bolsters, wardrobes, bedside tables, and electric fans. A total of 103 housing units have been handed over from the Head of the Central Java Settlement Infrastructure Implementation Unit to the Regent of Tegal on Tuesday (17/3/2026). The Ministry of PU will continue to monitor and coordinate with local government to ensure that all facilities function optimally and provide benefits to the affected community.
