100,000 Bank Jambi Customers Must Replace ATM Cards Following System Security Breach
Jambi — An alleged security system breach at Bank Pembangunan Daerah (BPD) Jambi has impacted banking services for customers. Approximately 100,000 customers have been required to replace their ATM cards and passwords, even as ATM machines have resumed normal operations.
Jambi Governor Al Haris stated that the replacement of ATM cards must be conducted in stages due to limited stock of replacement cards available.
“We can begin today, but the issue is that ATM cards need to be replaced, while we only have 9,000 replacement cards in reserve,” said Al Haris during an interview on Monday, 16 April 2026.
“Of the 100,000 customers who need to replace their ATM cards out of 250,000 total customers,” he added.
“Once the new cards arrive, we will distribute them to the branch offices,” Al Haris said.
The limited stock of replacement cards has led to customers queuing to access banking services, including cash withdrawals through tellers and password replacement.
A customer named Andre reported having to collect a queue number from 04:00 WIB to avoid missing his place in line.
“Even arriving that early, I was already number 26 in the teller queue,” said Andre.
“And number 15 for Customer Service,” he added.
Since the incident, branch offices of Bank Jambi have been crowded with hundreds of customers seeking to ensure the security of their savings.
An investigation and interviews conducted by various victims revealed losses of savings with varying amounts. Several victims reported fund losses ranging from Rp 17,000,000, Rp 20,000,000 to Rp 24,000,000.
The victims came from various backgrounds, ranging from Civil Service Apparatus (ASN) members to private sector employees who are Bank Jambi customers.
