10 Strategic Agreements Between Indonesia and South Korea: What Do They Contain?
Indonesia and South Korea are strengthening their bilateral relations through the exchange of ten Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during President Prabowo Subianto’s state visit to Seoul on Wednesday (1/4). The exchange of these cooperation documents took place at the Presidential Palace of South Korea, Cheong Wa Dae (Blue House), and was witnessed directly by President Prabowo. Citing a press release from BPMI Setpres, these agreements form part of efforts to deepen the continuously developing strategic partnership between the two countries. The MoUs exchanged cover various important sectors, from the economy, energy, digital technology, to health and future industries. This cooperation also reflects the commitment of Indonesia and South Korea in building long-term collaboration that is mutually beneficial. The government views these agreements as concrete steps to encourage more inclusive economic growth while strengthening national industrial resilience. In addition, this cooperation is expected to accelerate transformation towards a technology-based and clean energy economy. Through the exchange of these MoUs, Indonesia and South Korea affirm their joint commitment to strengthening their position as strategic partners amid continuously evolving global dynamics. Bank Indonesia and the Bank of Korea have launched cross-border QRIS payment connectivity between Indonesia and South Korea. President Prabowo Subianto received the highest honour from the South Korean government, the Grand Order of Mugunghwa, during his state visit to the country. Commitments to enhance relations were actually agreed upon in previous meetings. However, this visit is considered a momentum to realise them concretely.
