A Collection of Short and Easy-to-Memorise Ramadan Sermons for 2026

From the first day of Ramadan, preachers will be busy giving sermons everywhere. Sermons are usually held before breaking the fast, after the Isha prayer, and after the Subuh prayer.

The themes that can be presented to fill early Ramadan sermons vary greatly. Lessons on the fiqh of Ramadan worship are an interesting choice as provisions for navigating this ninth month of the Hijri calendar. In addition, issues of aqidah and history can be raised.

Ramadan sermons are usually delivered in a short time, about 7 minutes, so they are often called ‘kultum’ (seven-minute lecture). Because it is short, the important points of the sermon are very likely to be memorised, thus helping with the delivery.

Early Ramadan Sermon 2026 #1: Starting Ramadan with a Smile

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh

Dear Jamaah,

In Islam, when we meet or are with other people, we are highly encouraged to show a cheerful face and always smile. Conversely, we are forbidden to show a frowning face. This certainly also applies when we welcome and meet Ramadan again. A smile is a symbol of happiness.

When starting Ramadan, it is appropriate for Muslim men and women to be happy to meet it. We can imagine that Ramadan is like a great guest who will visit our home. Like a great guest, we also need to prepare a proper feast for the arrival of the long-awaited great guest. The proper feast we can serve for Ramadan is in the form of individual and social acts of worship.

Dear Bapak Ibu,

Individual worship can be done by consistently performing the Tarawih prayer, reading the Al-Quran, performing the Umrah pilgrimage during Ramadan if possible, and continuing to strive to improve oneself. Meanwhile, social worship during Ramadan can be increased by preparing iftar meals for people in need, donating to the poor, and helping orphans, the poor, and widows.

Dear Jamaah,

When Ramadan is confirmed because the new moon has been seen, as an expression of gratitude and happiness, the Prophet Muhammad also prayed to Allah as narrated by Thalhah bin Ubaidillah.

“Narrated by Thalhah bin Ubaidillah that the Prophet Muhammad said, ‘O Allah, make this new moon auspicious for us with blessings, faith, safety, and Islam. My Lord and your Lord is Allah.’ This is a good and rare hadith (HR Tirmidhi).”

Dear Jamaah,

Because there are so many blessings in Ramadan, there is a narration from Ibn Mas’ud as follows:

“If the servants of Allah knew (clearly) the blessings in Ramadan, my people would wish that the whole year was Ramadan.” (HR Ibn Abi al-Dunya, number 22)

Dear Jamaah,

The Prophet always informed his companions about the coming of Ramadan as in the following narration of Abu Hurairah:

“From Abu Hurairah, he said that the Prophet Muhammad said, ‘Ramadan has come to you. It is a blessed month. Allah has made fasting in Ramadan obligatory for you. In it, the doors of heaven are opened, the doors of hell are closed, and the devils are chained. In it, there is a night that is better than a thousand months. Whoever is deprived of its goodness is deprived.’ (HR Ahmad; Number 7148)”

Dear audience,

Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali in the book Lathaif al-Ma’arif said:

“The Prophet Muhammad always gave good news to his companions about the coming of Ramadan.”}
