MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi (JP): Ten-man host PSM Makassar
failed to reach the Asian Champions Cup semifinals after crashing
1-8 to Samsung Suwon Blue Wings in the second round-robin at the
Mattoangin Stadium on Friday.
PSM started to attack after referee S.K. Kennedy of Singapore
blew his whistle, but apparently it gave Blue Wings chances to
launch counter attacks.
Blue Wings' Seo Jung-won passed through defender Ronny Ririn
and sent the ball hard to goalkeeper Hendro Kartiko's net at the
fifth minute.
Six minutes later, Seo passed the ball to Jung Yong-hoon who
kicked it for a 2-0 lead which dented PSM's morale.
Blue Wings took advantage of this and added another goal when
Park Kun Ha kicked from the corner and the ball was tipped by
captain Sandro Cardovo dos Santos at the 17th minute.
Seo scored his second goal at the 22nd minute after receiving
a feed from Jung and made his hat-trick at the 24th minute after
a crisis in front of Hendro Kartiko's net.
Blue Wings then loosened its grip and Kurniawan made PSM's
only goal at the 34th minute, hitting Sin Bum-chul's net after a
solo run passing two Blue Wings' defenders for 5-1 deficit.
In the 36th minute, Seo passed the ball to Park Kun-ha who
delivered it for a 6-1 lead.
PSM suffered a setback when Suwandi was given a red card for
grabbing Seo's shirt from behind, forcing PSM onto the defensive.
At the 45th minute, Ali Baba tackled hard Ko Jong-su in the
penalty box who executed his shot well for a 7-1 lead.
In the second half, Blue Wings added another goal through Ko
Jong-soo at the 78th minute.
Jubilo Iwata of Japan ensured its semifinals berth by beating
Shandong Luneng 6-2 in the second match refereed by Sukri Mat
Amin of Malaysia.
Toshiya Fujita opened Jubilo's victory in the 29th minute
through a penalty kick after Shandong's Shu Chang touched the
ball with his hand in the penalty box. Shu was awarded a red card
for this.
Shandong Paraguayan Willberto Delvalle Casiano managed to
equalize at the 33rd minute.
Masashi Nakayama widened the gap with two goals at the 42nd
and 43rd minutes. Nakayama made the evening's second hat trick at
the 55th minute from outside the penalty box for a 4-1 lead.
At the 66th minute, Aleksandr Zivkovic further widened the
surplus from the penalty spot when Shandong's Jose Oscar Ferrera
Corominos tackled Shingo Kumabayashi.
Nakayama passed the ball to Daisuke Oku who netted it at the
77th minute.
Shandong Luneng managed to reduce the deficit to 6-2 through
Li Xiaopeng's free kick from outside the penalty box. (27)
