10-man host PSM Makassar bows out to Blue Wings
MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi (JP): Ten-man host PSM Makassar failed to reach the Asian Champions Cup semifinals after crashing 1-8 to Samsung Suwon Blue Wings in the second round-robin at the Mattoangin Stadium on Friday.
PSM started to attack after referee S.K. Kennedy of Singapore blew his whistle, but apparently it gave Blue Wings chances to launch counter attacks.
Blue Wings' Seo Jung-won passed through defender Ronny Ririn and sent the ball hard to goalkeeper Hendro Kartiko's net at the fifth minute.
Six minutes later, Seo passed the ball to Jung Yong-hoon who kicked it for a 2-0 lead which dented PSM's morale.
Blue Wings took advantage of this and added another goal when Park Kun Ha kicked from the corner and the ball was tipped by captain Sandro Cardovo dos Santos at the 17th minute.
Seo scored his second goal at the 22nd minute after receiving a feed from Jung and made his hat-trick at the 24th minute after a crisis in front of Hendro Kartiko's net.
Blue Wings then loosened its grip and Kurniawan made PSM's only goal at the 34th minute, hitting Sin Bum-chul's net after a solo run passing two Blue Wings' defenders for 5-1 deficit.
In the 36th minute, Seo passed the ball to Park Kun-ha who delivered it for a 6-1 lead.
PSM suffered a setback when Suwandi was given a red card for grabbing Seo's shirt from behind, forcing PSM onto the defensive.
At the 45th minute, Ali Baba tackled hard Ko Jong-su in the penalty box who executed his shot well for a 7-1 lead.
In the second half, Blue Wings added another goal through Ko Jong-soo at the 78th minute.
Jubilo Iwata of Japan ensured its semifinals berth by beating Shandong Luneng 6-2 in the second match refereed by Sukri Mat Amin of Malaysia.
Toshiya Fujita opened Jubilo's victory in the 29th minute through a penalty kick after Shandong's Shu Chang touched the ball with his hand in the penalty box. Shu was awarded a red card for this.
Shandong Paraguayan Willberto Delvalle Casiano managed to equalize at the 33rd minute.
Masashi Nakayama widened the gap with two goals at the 42nd and 43rd minutes. Nakayama made the evening's second hat trick at the 55th minute from outside the penalty box for a 4-1 lead.
At the 66th minute, Aleksandr Zivkovic further widened the surplus from the penalty spot when Shandong's Jose Oscar Ferrera Corominos tackled Shingo Kumabayashi.
Nakayama passed the ball to Daisuke Oku who netted it at the 77th minute.
Shandong Luneng managed to reduce the deficit to 6-2 through Li Xiaopeng's free kick from outside the penalty box. (27)
