10 foreigners deported

SEMARANG, Central Java: Local authorities expelled 10
foreigners last year for violating immigration laws.

Head of the local immigration office Soeroso told Antara most
of them were deported because they overstayed.

The people deported were from China, Malaysia, the
Netherlands, Germany, South Korea and the United States.

Two others, from China, are still under investigation on
suspicion of misusing their staying permits and of counterfeiting
personal data to acquire passports. They will be deported if they
are found guilty, Soeroso said.

Last year the office processed 622 exit permits, consisting of
612 repatriation and 10 deportation permits. (pwn)
