The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Jeddah reported that as many as 10,060 Umrah pilgrims have arrived in Indonesia amid escalating war in the Middle East. The figure represents the number of pilgrims who have landed on home soil since the United States-Israel attack on Iran on Saturday, 28 February 2026. The total number of pilgrims who have returned from 28 February 2026 to 3 March 2026 is 10,060 pilgrims, said Muhammad Ilham Effendy, Technical Staff for Hajj Affairs at KJRI Jeddah, in a press release on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. In addition, Ilham said there are 2,278 more pilgrims who will soon follow. Thousands have arranged their return via King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah. KJRI Jeddah, Ilham added, will ensure that the process of returning Umrah pilgrims to Indonesia proceeds with intensive supervision and assistance. ‘This is part of the state’s commitment to ensure maximum protection for all pilgrims,’ he stated. On the other hand, although the majority have returned as scheduled, 300 pilgrims are still experiencing flight delays. ‘These pilgrims are spread across Jeddah and Mecca, with main challenges involving onward flight schedules and visa coordination and transit flights,’ Ilham said. He said KJRI Jeddah, through the Hajj Technical Team, continues to coordinate with airlines to ensure certainty of departure schedules. KJRI Jeddah also guarantees the provision of meals and basic needs for pilgrims still waiting for flights. Ilham emphasised that they will continue to communicate with travel agents and visa responsible parties to speed up administrative processing. Monitoring is being conducted 24 hours a day to anticipate potential pilgrim congestion.
