10,000 Uninhabitable Houses in Lampung to Be Renovated
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A total of 10,000 uninhabitable houses (RTLH) in Lampung Province will be repaired through the 2026 Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) Programme.
The programme was officially launched by the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) of the Republic of Indonesia as part of the BSPS One Sumatra programme in Lampung on Thursday (7/5/2026).
Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait, or Ara, stated that the BSPS programme serves as an acceleration measure for addressing uninhabitable houses while also driving economic circulation among the community.
“BSPS is not only about repairing people’s homes but also stimulating the local economy. There are construction workers, material shops, SMEs, and local labour who will benefit from it,” said Ara, quoted from a press release on Friday (8/5/2026).
Specifically for Lampung Province, the number of assistance units has sharply increased from 2,390 units in 2025 to 10,000 units in 2026.
During the programme launch, a Public Shop Selection (PTT) or people’s tender was also conducted in Lematang Village for 16 aid recipients with a total budget ceiling of Rp 280 million.
From that process, an efficiency of 3.23 percent or Rp 9,044,000 was achieved, which will be returned to the community in the form of additional building materials.
“Every rupiah that can be saved must be returned to the people so that the quality of the houses improves even further,” said Ara.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, revealed that the number of RTLH in Lampung reaches around 467,000 units.
According to her, the BSPS aid recipients proposed are on target because they come from the decile 1 community group and fall into the RTLH category.
“This programme is very important because it truly targets those in need,” said Amalia.
The Lampung Provincial Government (Pemprov) is ready to synergise with the central government to accelerate the handling of uninhabitable houses.
Through the BSPS One Sumatra Programme, the Ministry of PKP reaffirms its commitment to expanding access to decent housing while improving community welfare through targeted and sustainable housing development.
