The National Secretariat for Disaster-Safe Education Units (Seknas SPAB) has documented that 1,741 schools across Sumatra have formally entered into Cooperation Agreements (PKS) for Education Unit Revitalisation. The total value of the agreements reached IDR1.254 trillion, with IDR411.4 billion already successfully disbursed.

Director-General of Early Childhood, Basic, and Secondary Education, Gogot Suharwoto, emphasised that accelerating learning recovery is the government’s primary priority to ensure students’ right to education is protected during the emergency period.

“Every child has the right to return to learning in safe and comfortable conditions. Therefore, accelerating budget disbursement and improving aid distribution mechanisms are concrete steps to ensure disaster-affected learning spaces can be restored quickly and learning can resume,” said Gogot.

The disbursement process was temporarily delayed this week due to an agreement addendum adjusting furniture additions in the revitalisation menu. Plans call for an additional 248 schools to join the PKS next week, with the disbursement process continuing for schools that have already implemented the agreements.

In addition, the Ministry of Education and Culture through the Education Finance Service Centre (Puslapdik) is also unblocking government assistance funding (Banpem) worth IDR21.6 billion. This process is scheduled to be completed next week so it can be immediately distributed to meet learning needs during the emergency transition period towards recovery.

Regarding teacher assistance, IDR220 billion has been distributed to approximately 36,000 teachers, with verification still underway for another 23,000 teachers.
