The Indonesian government has mapped 1,641 road points prone to flooding and landslides that could be traversed by holiday travellers during Lebaran 2026. The public has been advised to exercise heightened vigilance and caution when passing through these locations.

“In total, there are 807 flood-prone areas, 1,641 landslide-prone areas, and 15 tidal flood-prone areas. These are distributed throughout Indonesia,” said Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) at the Coordinating Ministry for Strategic Policy office in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

In addition, the government has deployed rapid response units, known as Disaster Relief Units (DRU), to address sudden road damage. A total of 1,461 heavy equipment units have been distributed to various locations, particularly in areas identified as prone to flooding and landslides. This precautionary measure aims to enable pothole repairs to be conducted as quickly as possible without obstructing traffic flow.

“The DRU’s task is to rapidly deploy heavy equipment and materials to quickly repair or patch roads with potholes so they can be used immediately and do not excessively hinder travel,” said AHY.

The government reported that 47,000 kilometres of non-toll national roads are in good condition, representing 93.2 per cent. Whilst the condition of provincial and regency roads varies, major routes across all major islands have been declared ready for use.

“At the very least, we report that non-toll national roads throughout Java-Bali, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, Nusa Tenggara, and Papua are generally in good and stable condition,” said AHY.

A toll road network spanning 3,115 kilometres nationwide is ready for operation with support from rest and service facilities (TIP). In addition to fuel provision, the government now provides electric vehicle charging stations along various toll road sections to accommodate the growing trend of electric vehicle use. Seventy-six toll road sections will operate fully with supporting facilities in categories A, B, and C.

“At the same time, we are now preparing electric vehicle charging stations. This has also become a trend amongst the public, with increasingly more people using electric-based private vehicles,” he said.
