South Lampung (ANTARA) - A total of 1,491 uninhabitable houses (RTLH) owned by low-income residents in South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, will be renovated through the 2026 Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) programme.

South Lampung Regent Radityo Egi Pratama, speaking in Kalianda on Friday, stated that the programme represents the government’s efforts to improve the quality of housing for low-income communities, ensuring they have decent, healthy, and safe homes.

“South Lampung Regency has become the launch centre for the BSPS programme, or house renovation, across Sumatra in 2026. Under this programme, 1,491 uninhabitable houses in South Lampung Regency will soon be repaired,” he said.

He explained that to ensure the aid reaches the right recipients, Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait personally inspected the conditions of homes for BSPS beneficiaries in Lematang Village, Tanjung Bintang Subdistrict, on Thursday (7/5).

“The results of the on-site inspection show that the distributed aid has been on target. Several recipient homes were observed to have quite severe damage, ranging from rotten and torn bamboo walls to leaking roofs that endanger the safety of the occupants,” said Radityo Egi.

Regarding the launch of the 2026 BSPS programme across Sumatra, the regent expressed appreciation for the central government’s attention to the people in his region.

“We, along with the Minister and the Governor, have visited several locations, and this is the last point, the fourth point of BSPS aid handover for Sumatra Island, with the launch in South Lampung. Thank you, President Prabowo, for the assistance to our community in South Lampung,” stated Radityo Egi.

He also extended thanks to the PKP Minister, the Governor of Lampung, and all parties supporting the low-income housing improvement programme.

“Thank you, Minister and Governor; may your good deeds be rewarded manifold by Allah. Thank you, forward Indonesia,” he said.

Meanwhile, South Lampung Regency has been allocated 1,491 housing aid units at once and has been entrusted as the launch location for BSPS across Sumatra in 2026.
