1,256 Eastern Indonesia SPPG Units Suspended from 1 April
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is temporarily halting operations of 1,256 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) in eastern Indonesia starting 1 April 2026.
This decisive step is being taken because thousands of these SPPG units have not yet obtained Hygiene and Sanitation Certificates (SLHS) and lack Wastewater Treatment Installations (IPAL), two primary requirements in service standards.
Director of Regional Monitoring and Supervision III at BGN, Rudi Setiawan, emphasised that this decision is non-negotiable.
“SPPG units without SLHS and IPAL will be suspended by us starting 1 April 2026,” he stated on Tuesday (31/3).
According to Rudi, compliance with sanitation standards and waste management is the main foundation for ensuring food safety in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.
“We want to ensure that all SPPG meet food and environmental safety standards. This directly concerns the health of the beneficiaries,” he stressed.
BGN had previously given time for all SPPG to complete the requirements. However, up to the deadline, many had not registered for SLHS or provided IPAL.
BGN assures that SPPG which have met the provisions can resume operations after undergoing re-verification.
“We encourage them to make improvements immediately. Once complete, they can be resubmitted for verification,” Rudi concluded.
