The Russians Are Coming... With Investments

By: Shirley Christie Russian investors have confirmed plans to invest billions of dollars next year in a pair of Indonesian projects - a resources railway and a nickel smelter - a government official said. Gita Wirjawan, chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), said on Wednesday that he had met with Russian Railways, a state-owned company that confirmed its intention to build a railway line in Central and East Kalimantan.

Unilever May Resume Buying Sinar Mas Palm Oil

Unilever Indonesia, the country’s largest listed consumer goods maker, may resume purchasing crude palm oil from Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology following an 18-month halt after the palm oil producer made improvements to abide by Unilever’s guidelines for responsible environmental practices.

Elesys Inc to Build Production Base in Indonesia

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Korean information technology and electricity company, Elesys Inc, plans to build an IT power production base in Indonesia. “We will start by establishing a local company in Indonesia next year,” Elesys director Soon Lee, said yesterday. He said this has long been planned but could only be realized this year. This year, the company is conducting a survey about the situation in Indonesia by collaborating with several Indonesian universities and researchers.

Australia attends e Kalimantan expo

Samarinda, E Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - An Australian education consultant, International Development Program (IDP), will take part in a five-day development exhibition held by the East Kalimantan provincial administration themed "Kaltim Expo 2011" from September 22 to 26, 2011. "IDP is an international education consultant based in Melbourne," head of the East Kalimantan Licensing and Capital Investment Agency (BPPMD) HM Yadi Sabianoor said here Wednesday.
