RIM Urged to Build Servers in Indonesia

VIVAnews - In August this year, the Ministry of Communication and Information notified Research in Motion, Canada-based manufacturer of BlackBerry, to build some servers in Indonesia. The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Communication and Information is still hampered to push RIM because it awaits the preparation of the Draft of Governmental Regulation on the implementation of Information and Electronic Transaction Law.

Indonesia, Coal Heaven

VIVAnews - Indonesia is much benefited by the existence of millions of tons of mining materials such as coal, copper, gold, or lead. Mimika and West Sumbawa are places of abundant reserve of gold. Based on data of the Association of Indonesia Coal Mining, total coal production in Indonesia in 2009 reached 193.98 million tonnes. The national coal production keeps increasing. In 2008, the national coal production was only 175.3 million tonnes compared to 2007 at 148.8 million tonnes.

Tax Court to Move to Elite Business District

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Finance Minister plans to relocate the Tax Court away from the Finance Ministry complex. The Finance Ministry’s Secretary General Mulia Nasution said they are planning to move it to SCBD business area in central Jakarta. “We have prepared the site,” Muilia said on Wednesday. According to Mulia, the land belongs to PT Taspen. The location is right next to the Metro Jaya Police headquarters, not far from the Tax Directorate General’s head office.

Korea to Construct Bio-ethanol Plant

TEMPO Interactive, Brebes:A Korean investor plans to build a bio-ethanol plant worth US$ 500 million in Brebes, Central Java. The Brebes Regional Secretary Assistant, Muhammad Supriyono, said the request for a license to build a plant fueled from cassava was filed last August. The investor will collaborate with PT Rekayasa Cassava Terpadu, and the plant is estimated to employ 125.000 workers.

Bank Indonesia: 82 Percent of Villagers Ignorant about Savings

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Bank Indonesia declared that the majority of Indonesians living in villages do not have access to banks. “Around 82 percent of the villagers do not have bank accounts,” said Adam K. Saputra, senior researcher at Bank Indonesia’s Research and Bank Regulation Directorate, in Jakarta yesterday. Most of the villagers often borrow instead of save money when it comes to finances. According to Adam, banks are not pro-active in mobilizing money among rural communities.

US companies explore investment in RI

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Several companies of western US were set to explore cooperation and investment in Indonesia. Indonesia`s improved economic condition appeared to become a strong attraction to foreign investment to operate in the country. "Actually the two countries already have cooperation in several sectors including the retail and food sectors," Industry Ministry secretary general Agus Tjahayana said in Jakarta Thursday.

Business world asked to glance at business potential from GDP

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked business world to glance at business potential from gross domestic product (GDP) rather than from the state budget only. Speaking at a function to open the 6th national conference of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) here on Friday, President Yudhoyono said the amount of gross domestic product in Indonesia had reached six times the value of the state budget.
