Indonesia Chief Among Countries Limiting Foreign Access to Domestic Markets: World Bank
Washington. The vast majority of countries are missing out on lucrative investment opportunities by limiting foreign companies’ access to their domestic markets, the World Bank said on Wednesday. Nearly 90 per cent of the 87 countries surveyed have laws that bar foreign companies from some sectors of their economies, the World Bank found in its first-ever “Investing Across Borders” report.

West Lombok Power Plant Project to Be Delayed
VIVAnews - State electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) President Director Dahlan Iskan said the development of steam-powered electricity generator in Jeranjang, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara would not be finished until October. Iskan, who visited the 1x25 MW generator construction site, also said there were two solutions to speed up the establishment, which include the advancement of the equipment delivery time and addition of the number of workers.

Indonesia to scrutinise firms' export earning flows
JAKARTA, July 8 (Reuters) - Indonesia plans to issue new rules this year that will require companies to report where and in which banks they expect to put their export earnings, as it seeks to monitor capital flows and improve tax collection. The government sees export earnings as a more stable source of foreign exchange than short-term speculative inflows, which have sent the stock market .JKSE, bond prices and the rupiah currency IDR= soaring in the past year.

Indonesian president vows to improve business environment
JAKARTA, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono Wednesday reassured investors that the country would boost business environment by exercising good governance and strengthening efforts to combat corruption. The president made the statement as the global investors are concerned about rampant grafts, poor bureaucracy and infrastructure in Indonesia.

Switzerland offers SBY contribution in corruption eradication
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The President of the Swiss Confederation Doris Leuthard has offered a contribution of the Swiss government in corruption eradication in Indonesia. "We have a long procedure but we are willing to contribute," President Leuthard said at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday after having a bilateral meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. He said his government can make suggestions on corruption eradication upon request.

Indonesia expects trade with Turkey to double
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia expects its trade with Turkey to double to five billion US dollars in the next two years. "Our trade volume in 2008, before the crisis, reaches 2.1 billion US dollars. The target for the next two years is it will double," trade minister Mari Elka Pangestu said here on Wednesday. She said she did not use the 2009 trade figures as the basis for setting the target because exports and their value dropped in the year due to crisis.

Govt controls imports of cow meat
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government is controlling imports of cow meat while at the same time increasing domestic production to realize self-sufficiency in the meat supply by 2014. "Now the domestic production is improving. Imports from January to June reached 56,000 tons and in the future they will be controlled further to assure realization of self-sufficiency," vice minister of agriculture Bayu Krisnamurthi said here on Wednesday.

RI starts negotiating economic partnership with EFTA

The Easy Sell of Organics
