Yahoo! Ready to Acquire Other Startups Before locking up Koprol, Yahoo! tried to secure news portal Kapanlagi.com. VIVAnews - Yahoo! is ready to acquire other local startups in Indonesia after it announced the acquisition over Koprol, a location-based social network. 'We'll always be prepared to acquire other startups," Yvonne Chang, Yahoo! SouthEast Asia Vice President and Managing Director, addressed reporters in a press conference in Jakarta, May 25.

Indonesia warned of opposition to reform

The departing Indonesian finance minister has warned that economic and democratic successes in south-east Asia’s largest economy are in danger of being “hijacked” by vested interests opposed to reform. Sri Mulyani Indrawati, who last week resigned as finance minister to take up a post at the World Bank, told the Financial Times that personal attacks against her by a small cabal of political and business figures forced her to step down.

RI, US to boost trade in green products

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia will cooperate with the US to increase trade in green products to support efforts in achieving their targets of gas emissions reduction, it was learned here on Tuesday. Speaking after accompanying the coordinating minister for economic affairs in a meeting with visiting US trade secretary Garry Locke, Trade Minister Mari Elka pangestu said Indonesia already had a policy to support development of green products.

Though Yahoo may have wanted to buy Foursquare, the company has found another way to hook into the world of location-based social networking. Yahoo announced Tuesday that it has bought Koprol, a social network for mobile users. Based in Jakarta, Indonesia, Koprol lets people make friends, share photos, and find popular nearby locations all on the go.
