VIVAnews - Yahoo! is ready to acquire other local startups in Indonesia after it announced the acquisition over Koprol, a location-based social network.
'We'll always be prepared to acquire other startups," Yvonne Chang, Yahoo! SouthEast Asia Vice President and Managing Director, addressed reporters in a press conference in Jakarta, May 25.
Yvonne, who has only been in charge of Yahoo! Southeast Asia for two months, said Yahoo! will be focusing on the development of Yahoo! Indonesia.
She emphasised the acquisition over Koprol as an excellent strategy of Yahoo! Indonesia zooming in on the youths while underscoring social, mobile, and local aspects.
Before locking up Koprol, Yahoo! tried to secure news portal Kapanlagi.com. However, further attempts on the acquisition were stopped.
According to service creation of Telkom Group, Kuncoro Wastuwibowo, Yahoo! shows appealing steps compared to Google.
After acquiring a company, Yahoo! will allow the company to make further developments. "Each of the [acquired companis] is given the opportunity to develop and form island-like basis," said the well-known Indonesian blogger.
